Spring has sprung just before summer. Everything is in rejuvenation mode. Yes, some people still have the mask on and they’re pushing an arbitrary national vaccine quota on us, but that doesn’t even seem to matter anymore. People are living as they want to be living. They’re doing what they’re meant to be doing. And, call me crazy, but I think people are beginning to make the better choices for themselves. It’s a slow and steady process, but somewhere deep down the bar has been raised. The morality bar, that is.
I’ve said this a lot, but I think people are legitimately done with the bullshit. I haven’t seen them this done in I think forever. We’re just tolerating less and less things. That’s because a lot of claims we make can, or cannot, be backed up by evidence. The percentage of those who believe everything they’re told without question would have to be one I make up because that’s impossible to know. All I know is that a lot of what once stuck like glue has lost all its adhesiveness. There’s still a lot of cringe and stunades to wade through, but those folks will always exist, no matter how much we tell them to knock off the nonsense.
Sincerity is always going to win out. I know a lot of others think people are stupid, but even the stupidest among us know when they’re being taken for a ride. It’s just becoming way too obvious at this point. You can see what they’re doing from space, with the other UFOs. I have to fight all my basic instincts to not just want to shake people and scream, “Is this what you wanted? Is this really what you voted for?!” I’m seriously dumbfounded. But there’s no point in getting mad at the past. We’re all stewing in this boiling pot and it’s up to all of us to know who’s holding a firm rope to let us out, and who’s handing one over so we may hang ourselves and cook faster.
It does feel like summer’s been a little delayed. Tomorrow is technically the beginning of America’s summer. And while it may be that on the calendar, there’s still a few more plants we need to water and nurture, and give them a bit more time to grow. I just hope people don’t think they’re above feeling their own morality bar raise. No one likes to hear “I told you so.” No matter how right we end up being.
